Try to stop them!
This is the follow up to the reasonably well regarded driving sim 4x4 Evolution and this sequel expands decently on its already enjoyable predecessor to entertaining effect. There's not much in the way of new features here, with the main differences being extra tracks and trucks but the sheer number of extra courses here makes this a better bet than the original. The main focus here is the career mode, with plenty of the hi-octane races that fans of the original will be used to. However, in a nice twist over other racing games, this one again offers plenty of slightly whacky missions that make a pleasant change from the usual 'cross the line first' competitions. Here for example, you might find yourself speeding around in a desperate search for lost gold or even tracking down outhouses which have mysteriously got messed up. The trucks on display here are all licensed from their real world counterparts and which can be extensively customised to turn them into real off-road animals. If you're looking for a racing game which doesn't take itself too seriously and instead just offers plenty of pedal-to-the-metal driving fun, the this is a solid choice. The visuals are quite tasty, with a wide range of environments to enjoy and which are all well detailed and zip alog at a fair old pace, while the track lineup is also pleasingly extensive. However, some frustrations do rear their ugly head and which are largely due to the nature of the trucks themselves. As these are offroad vehicles, they don't exactly handle like their sportier brethren and it does take time to get used to this, which can prove annoying. If you go in expecting this though, you should be in for a good time.
