Civil War themed hex based wargame; low quality graphics
While the graphical layout in Battle of Antietam is quite oblique, it is however functional, in that style of the ZX Spectrum games, which weren't really that well looking, but were sure polished enough to be playable. So, with that in mind, expect that this game will offer you a nice representation in wargame of the events of the Civil War. Even in spite of its mostly black and white graphically, the math behind it all is well suited to the events depicted, and also, the amount of detail is tweaked well enough. Gameplay wise, it's classical wargame, turn based, with certain options that will affect the political, economic and some other global things for all the turns to come. But there you can set and forget. Also, even if not too nicely drawn, the units behave realistically enough, as their movement, amount of HP and damage is well suited to their nature, plus they get different bonuses for being covered or, alternatively, they get downgrades for being exposed. Not a must play, but a good enough game, for sure. Alongside it, download, also, Battles of Napoleon, for a similarly styled wargame.
