Thug life in Cold War Berlin
This game offers you a similar kind of gameplay experience to early GTA games, however, it is not as much about car dealings and vehicular mayhem as it is more about trying to make it without issues about, in a city that is overthrown by political tensions and fear. So, your main mission will be that of discovering and neutralizing a nuclear weapon threat, as one such weapon is thought to be roaming about in the wild. Thus, Berlin 1948 offers you a very bleak adventure game, in which you will mostly play as a security/informant, the kind of behind the curtain individual that does the dirty work of governments and of other entities. Sure enough though, rather than being this engaging thriller, as the story would suggest, it is also a game that falls short of the mark by barely scratching the surface of what would have been possible, if this game was taken to the next level, if it truly gave you something more meaty. As it is, it is a lite thriller/adventure/puzzler with spy elements that doesn't take off. Plus, graphically it's pretty unremarkable, 2D top down with bubble text bits that try hard to make it look like an interactive comic strip. Nope, if spy adventures is what you want to try, better see Border Zone, quite as oblique graphically, but much more intense and overall, much better written.
