Kickboxing in sidescroller 2D, fun and retro!
Best of The Best or, as it is also known, Best of the Best Championship Karate is a sequel to another little known fighter game, Panza Kick Boxing. Both these titles take a similar approach to 2D brawler/fighter type gameplay, while the moves and combos are all derived from real world martial arts styles. So no, no fire balls or berserk moves in this one, but otherwise the tactical bit, where you look to find the best type of attack is still there. The learning curve is not steep, but you don't have to become an expert either, as the PC won't put up a fierce game either. At any rate, don't expect a leisurely stroll either, it's not an unbalanced game either, just a lite one. Graphically it's got a look that is a bit too complicated and full of distractions, but it's not a bad looking game, just a busy with details one. At any rate, it gets the job done well, it's got as much style as you can expect and a roaster of players to choose from that is as diverse as you could imagine (not very!). Play it or see 4D Sport Boxing, a similar kickboxing fighter.
