Strategy game with RPG elements
Birthright: The Gorgon's Alliance plays as a real time strategy, with all the amenities that you would expect from such a game. You build settlements, produce units, harvest the local resources and then go to war. The RPG portion comes in the form of a hero, a super unit which also acts as your RPG protagonist, linking each stage and each mission together. The narrative puts you in the shoes of a ruler in the land of Anuire, While you will wage your wars and try to gather as much power and influence as possible, the same will be tried by your on map enemies, which too look for the same world domination that you are fighting for. Thus, the entire game is rather repayable, as the striking of alliances, the different choices made by your opponents and your actions can have multiple outcomes, leading to play sessions that can unwrap quite differently from one session to another. So, if you wanted to try a proto RPG RTS hybrid, rather good, though simple enough, Birthright: The Gorgon's Alliance will provide, and it is playable enough by today's standards as well.
