A bit on the funny side, but a solid fighter game nonetheless

Body Blows is a pretty decent fighter game, the kind you don't really take seriously at first, but when it kicks in, you know you are in for a great time. It's also the kind of game that you know has been inspired from the greats, but had to go about creating its own little world, so that you won't think that it is a direct copy of some other high end fighter. What I'm most reminded of when playing it is, as you'll figure out minutes after starting it up, is Street Fighter, with which Body Blows shares a bit of the graphics (the style) and the way you can knit your button mashing to create combos. Is it as good as any of those games? Well, it's definitely around there, surely not as good, but pretty much in the ballpark. So, if you're looking for that kind of fighter thrill, while also looking to play a game that isn't a one on one copy, Body Blows will surely do its part. And, the alternative, Ultimate Body Blows packs in even more diversity, reason enough to give it a try as well, as it is sure a more diverse experience.

A decent fighting game

Body Blows is a very cool fighting game that is actually fairly typical for this kind of game, but still not quite half bad - you have the standard gameplay with the standard moves and standard easy to figure out controls. There is a single player option, a two player option and tournament mode (in my opinion the most interesting one). You have to choose between 4 characters, each with his or hers backstory and abilities. The game is actually inspired by Street Fighter II, and actually has a lot of the same moves, like projectile, rising uppercut and spinning kick special abilities. The game is not even close to the actual Street Fighter game, but it's not bad either. It provides the action and fun most fighting game have and I have to compliment on the game's great graphics. Unfortunately, the DOS conversion of the game doesn't have that good graphics like the Amiga version, so be happy with this one or try to find and Amiga version. In any case, a pretty good fighting game that delivers the action and fun it should have. Thumbs up!
