Zela in space!
This really is a little gem that is well worth checking out by anyone who loves a good game. It's a sort of science fiction take on the classic Zelda formula of action and adventure with the occasional puzzle thrown in for good measure. The story is a familiar one, with some nicely detailed backstory which tells how a colony ship has been overcome by a rogue alien and with survival now the main order of the day. The game basically involves a lot of exploration and slaying of nasty enemies and the action comes at you thick and fast. The ship is interesting enough to explore, with multiple routes available and thanks to some clever design, there's not much in the way of tedious backtracking to endure which helps to keep things moving. There are also lots of very varied enemies to take on, and which require differing tactics which means the gameplay never gets old. You have access to a wide range of weapons to add to the fun, with a mix of long range and close combat equipment to choose from. The puzzles too are nicely integrated and while not overly challenging, help to make the game shine even more. Cerberus really is an absolute treat from start to finish. The visuals are quite charming in their old-school fashion, with slick sprites which pack a lot personality. The action never lets up and is never less than enjoyable while the quest itself is of a decent length and difficulty and which should keep you hooked to the end. If you are on the lookout for a solid adventure that mixes adventure and exploration with action, then this has to be at the top of your list, but even if you're not take a look anyway.
