Fun but brings nothing new to the series
The Crazy Taxi series has ever been one for gamers who like their driving action to be less-than-serious, thanks to the games' mix of high speed, manic racing and good humour which combine to create a simple, undemanding but rarely less than enjoyable experience. This third instalment follows firmly in the footsteps of its predecessors and its only real flaw is that it doesn't offer much in the way of innovation and thus feels overly familiar as a result. The action this time around is transferred to Glitter Oasis, a thinly veiled take on Las Vegas, but the gameplay still simply requires players to deliver a variety of customers to their desired destination in a as short a time as possible in order to rack up the big fares. There are four new drivers introduced here which adds a bit of variety to proceedings but apart from this and a few other minor additions, it's very much business as usual for the series. There are some re-worked levels from Crazy Taxi and Crazy Taxi 2 while Crazy X is a bonus mode where you take on a selection of mini-games if you fancy a break from the main game. High Roller is definitely a fun game, featuring plenty of high speed hi-jinx as you race around the open-world city but it's a shame that the idea wasn't developed over previous games as it really is just more of the same. There's no real point to it other than racking up the fares so once the novelty of haring around the city in search of clients wears off, you'll soon realise how thin this is. If you've never played a Crazy Taxi game before, this is a good one to check out but fans will find they have seen it all before.
