Dig Dug clone with a more action oriented design
The game has the same basic ideas as Dig Dug: You are a miner trying to avoid trapping himself while digging and also trying to evade/defeat the many subterranean enemies encountered along the way. The underground tunnels in Digger are very crisp, and are all slightly cartoonish, but the music sure could have been better. However, for a mono-tone early 80s game, you aren't really going to find much in game music that can be stimulating and easy on the ears. Besides, the tune is rather a sound track to accompany the gameplay rather than a standalone music score to make the game interesting to hear. At any rate, you're going to like the game for the clean animations, for the simple but addictive mechanics and for the flawless controls. So, that's pretty much all that needs to be said. If you want to dig tunnels, avoid monsters and don't think too hard about what you're doing, this is just a very well designed timewaster, if you've ever tried one yourself. So, like many other games of the same type, you will return to it from time to time, for a 5 minutes break, and then forget about it for very long time until it pops up in your mind again.
