Good natured gangster sim
In true Legal Crime style, Dime City shows players what it's like on the wrong side of the law, by placing players in the shoes of a rising gangster boss who is keen to prove that crime really does pay. It's a humorous take on the business sim, much less serious minded than the likes of Capitalism 2, but it's not lacking in detail or strategy, so it's well worth a look if you're after something unusual. In the town of Dime City, you take on the role of a gangster with big ambitions and who will do anything to achieve his goal of becoming governor and Godfather to his beloved home. Of course, the way you do this is pretty much up to you, with a multitude of options open to you to raise the necessary funds, with everything from bank raids to blackmailing corrupt politicians available to you. Of course, you're not going to have everything your way, so there are rivals out trying to achieve the same thing and who are prone to launching sudden attacks on your growing empire and which are dealt with in the form of mini action games and which help to add in some variety to proceedings. Visually, the game is a treat, with nicely animated graphics that lend the game a great sense of personality, with its outlandish, over-the-top characters and environments that really leap off the screen. Don't let this cartoon-like appearance fool you though as this isn't really a game for kids. For older players in the right frame of mind though, this is an enjoyable experience that, while far from perfect, provides plenty of good natured fun and marries it with a solid slice of strategy gaming.
