Excellent fantasy strategy package
If you are a fan of fantasy and strategy games like Majesty and King's Bounty, then the Disciples series is definitely worth checking out. Servants of the Dark is an expansion pack to Disciples 2, but includes the original game, so this is the perfect way to get into the series. On top of the base game, it adds in new campaigns, maps and characters to create an enjoyable, if not perfect, experience. The basic game of Disciples 2 falls into the turn-based strategy genre, with players choosing from a variety of races, including the traditional fantasy Dwarves, Elves, Undead and Human Empire, and then building up their kingdoms before venturing out into the wilderness to explore it with their heroes. Of course, exploration inevitably brings with it conflict, with combat played out in turn-based fashion between squads and monsters. The usual variety of classes, like Warrior, Mage, Thief and Ranger, are on display here, each with their own advantages and disadvantages, while magic is also available to be resaearched and which forms part of the resource management aspect. The plot is fairly complicated and quite engaging, and should keep players glued to their seats, but as an expansion pack, Servants of the Dark doesn't really offer much that is new over the base game, with the new campaigns providing more of the same. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, as Disciples 2 is certainly a great fantasy RTS, so if that's what you are looking for, this is the perfect package. Both games feature the same high visual standards, with plenty of content and challenge to keep you playing, so really there is no excuse not to check this one out.
