Freddi's on the case
This is probably the best in the classic series of Freddi Fish edutainment titles and even betters the already excellent Case of the Haunted School House. This makes it an absolute must have for any junior adventure fan who loves the underwater world. The story this time around finds Freddi and her chum Luther on the trail of the missing conch shell. It's important as it's used to signify the start of the Founder's Day festival so without it, everything's all going to go pear-shaped. Unfortunately, Luther's uncle has been incriminated in the theft, thus making finding the real criminal even more important. What follows is a slick little junior point-and-click adventure where you explore the various undersea environments while looking for clues and collecting items to solve the inventory-based puzzles which stand between you and success. There are also a number of mini-games to try your hand at, including a series of carnival-style activities and playing a pipe organ. The Freddi Fish series is one that is known for its high standards and this one really sets the bar for other similar such games. First up, the visuals are lovely with the beautifully drawn underwater environments being a joy to behold and which are never less than gorgeous, full of detail. Secondly, the gameplay is supremely well designed for such a game, with a compelling story and puzzles that are perfectly integrated into the main plot. When you add in the fun little minigames, you have an absolutely brilliant kids adventure.
