Even better than Grand Prix 500
The first in the series, Grand Prix 500, was by all accounts a good sprite based forward scrolling motorcycle racing game, and for all intents and purposes it sure did a great job at pitting itself to other players. At any rate, Grand Prix 500 2 took the ideas of the first and even the execution and took it a step forward. Sure, it still is a sprite based racer, but it is much more polished and all the jagged edges are much less visible. It also allows you more precise control, and also, you can use that added amount of polish, as the game makes good use of it all. In what way, you might ask? Well, for starters, in Grand Prix 500 2 the opponents no longer seem to jump from one lane to the other, they move more smoothly themselves. Therefore, you have more options on how to overtake them, and, not only that, but you also have more options in regard to how you plan your longer term strategy. Therefore, all things considered, Grand Prix 500 2 is a shining example of a sprite based racer maturing, and I do recommend it.
