Unimpressive sprite based motorcycle racer
Indeed an old racer with motorcycles, from the 2D, front to back sprites. But, unlike many other arcaders of that time, Grand Prix: The Cycles is a bit underwhelming; it won't manage to capture your entire attention and your entire spectrum of needs. Sure, it isn't a bad game, there is quite a bit of challenge in there, there is that feel that you're in a race, but not enough, or not as the better sprite racers used to do. And this is because, within this type of graphic engine, the game wants to be a simulator, which quite frankly is just not possible. The true to nature feel, the hunting for a feel that is outside that of the sprite racer genre cannot simply be conveyed. So, what you're left with is a game that at times behaves awkwardly, a game that never really pushes the envelope and that never gets the recipe right. It can be played, but it won't offer you no satisfaction or thrills. Also, to be fair, neither the graphics aren't anything too complex, even within the graphic genre. So, I can't personally find a single good enough reason to advise you to play this one, as I feel you won't miss anything if you don't.
