Action adventure following the eponymous Harry Potter book
Released soon after the movie, this is a game of the book of the movie adaptation, and like many others of its kind it is not the best action adventure that you can experience. However, in the Harry Potter game universe, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire is the better game, featuring a well balanced mix of action adventure with puzzles and with a cool depiction of the story of the book, via pre-rendered animations and excerpts directly from the books. The problem is due to the 3D camera and point of view it automatically fixates upon. You don't get a fixed point camera, following closely at the back of a character, instead you get a cinematic camera which most often manages to find the worse possible angles, that point anywhere but where the action actually is or in the direction where you need to go. The plus is that you can control your entire party, Hermione, Harry and Weasley. There will be wand wielding, running and jumping, collaboration as well as solo play action, but, for the more seasoned player it will feel a little too underwhelming. For children however, especially for those in the process of reading the books and seeing the movies, this can be a good and fulfilling game, but for the rest of us it will just feel a bit too derivative and simple. However, and I stress this again, this is the better game in the series, better than Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, and even better than Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Maybe Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban managed to take the crown from this one but, truth be told this can be highly subjective, so, ultimately, just give it a quick try and see how it feels to you.
