HyperBlade
Steel hockey base/ futuristic frills!
HyperBlade is a combo game, a futuristic reinterpretation of steel hockey, that plays in these steam punk/acid retro futuristic arenas. You control a roller bladder (which if course runs on hovering rollers!) looking to take control of the arena. The arena itself is this towering massive elongated, gravity defying tube thingy (and you're running on its inside walls) and you have to collect all the powerups. It's a bloody game (sic!) in that you have to take down your enemies, and the bloodier you do it, the better the score you get. So, overall, you get quite a bunch of things to do in these arenas, and you keep on playing trying not to be tacked by the adverse players. You might even hook up the game and play it in multiplayer mode, but some retro virtual IPX and LAN trickery must be conjured to get the game to work properly, as of course, these standard are no longer in use without some DosBox wizardry!. But it's definitely worth it if you and your friends like these types of action oldies. Else, download Death Drome, and you'll get a good fix out of it too. So, if you like these action games, definitely go ahead and give them a try!
Cool game - literally and figuratively
HyperBlade is a futuristic sport game that combines elements of sport with combat tactics. It was published in 1996 by Activision, a company with a high reputation due to its outstanding activity and its innovative vision. This game is fun in every aspect, because of the original gameplay based mainly on violence. I admit it, I like violence, but only in videogames! I am sure most of you are familiar with the way hockey is played, but this game is different, although it is based on this sport. You run with high speed on an enourmous half-pipe, you slice the opponents with your blade, there are lasers that cut you in half, the puck is replaced with an electronic "rok", and other lethal traps and interesting features are added. The controls are easy, smooth and the action is fast: a combination that leads to a playing without a break. Be sure of this: if your fast running and adrenaline doesn't kill you, well, your adversaries will. Be prepared to kick some ass and to be kicked, as well! This game is so enjoyable, that even the fact you are beaten hard is fun. The cheers are increasing the entertainment, so the soundtrack. The modes of the game are: single match, tournament and network play. What can I say, don't you dare missing the real action and the coolness that describes HyperBlade (literally and figuratively)!
