Very crude RPG, top down, lots of fun still
Because Icon - The Quest for the Ring is built on a very simplistic set of graphical assets and also, because it doesn't want to tell a very epic story, being quite content with just deploying the basic gameplay, it can still be thoroughly enjoyed without issues. And, granted, for a game this old, this controls absolutely easy; you can directly control your player character via keyboard inputs, also, you don't have a plethora of options, which is great, as it keeps the play focused. Yes, there are games out there that are smarter, better produced, but, for a more lighthearted Rogue like (without the random generation) it works great. You will be scourging through all sort of interior spaces, fight enemies that are not very diverse nor smart, but it keeps you busy, which is exactly what is needed to keep the game playing really well. Also, a cool thing about this one is the fact that it doesn't use a very dark color palette. It's a change from many games of the very same period, which just great. Download it!
