Fore!
The legendary Jack Nicklaus has lent his name to a number of detailed golfing simulators over the years, from Greatest 18 Holes of Major Championship Golf to Power Challenge Golf and many more besides. Golden Bear Challenge is possibly the best of the titles to bear his name so if you have any interest in golfing games, this is a fine one to add to your collection. Once you fire this one up, you'll find it offers a lot of options to play around with and this is one the game's major appeals and which ensures it should last you some time. It's a 3D game, with its numerous courses all represented in pleasant detail, and which include a number of Nicklaus's own courses, with others also available. Beyond the normal play modes, you've also got access to a powerful design and construction set which allows you to test your skills as a course designer and which is actually a lot of fun to use, as well as being quite intuitive. Another point in the game's favor is the control system, which is easy enough to understand but which provides a lot of depth for subtlety in making clever shots and which also helps to keep the game challenging, even once you think you've figured it all out. The visuals are quite lovely for the time, and really bring home that feeling of being on a real golf course in fine weather, even if it's actually chucking it down with rain outside. The physics system used here is very realistic so you won't have to worry about any unusual ball behavior, and overall, this is probably one of the most enjoyable golf sims on the market.
