Stiff but playable platformer/shooter
Lethal Weapon won't throw you no curveballs, but for its brand of rather bland (oh, rhyme alert!) shooting and platforming, similar to Contra, it sure is worth a try. The game doesn't intend to innovate; it just puts you in the shoes of a soldier/special agent and lets you engage in all sort of platforming oriented shenanigans. Graphically, the game world looks ok, again, rather bland, with lots of textures and tiles that will repeat ad infinitum, and static backgrounds that are ok, but not too special. The problem however is in the stiffness of the player character. Couple that with poor, unsophisticated enemies and some glitch surfaces, which make jumping hazardous and you've got yourself a forgettable, though playable game. What might save the experience is the fact that you are going to have multiple weapons, some of them quite nice, and also, the fact that you are not always engaged in left to right, straightforward platforming. You will also get some scenarios where you need to negotiate your trajectories differently, hunting for items or clues. So, while not a definitive no, this game is by no means a platforming shooter classic.
