90s classic fighting game
I don't believe there is a videogame addict that hasn't played or heard of Mortal Kombat. The first game of the series (the one that this review is all about), appeared in 1993, being a side-scrolling 1 on 1 fighting game, developed by Midway Games. The story presents Liu Kang, the Shaolin warrior who goes on a trip to find and stop the evil and elderly sorcerer named Shang Tsung. The main reason of this quest is to put an end to his plans based on conquering and oppressing the world. Their confrontation takes places in the "Mortal Kombat" competition. The fighters that step into the arena will also appear in the future Mortal Kombat games. They are inspired form real characters, and they are: the two main protagonists mentioned above (Liu Kang and Shang Tsung), Sonya Blade (Special Forces agent), Kano (mercenary criminal), Raiden, Johnny Cage (fame-seeking actor), Sub-Zero and Scorpions. This game remained notable over the years for its serious and huge amounts of blood and violence during gameplay. The player is allowed to perform various moves and combinations of punches, kicks, and other special attacks, in order to defeat the opponent completely. A convenient option and also an innovation is the possibility to hit the opponent while he is in the air, and can't defend himself. You can attack him with a combination of strikes. Play this arcade classic game that can be easily named the best fighting games that wrote history!
