Disturbing horror adventure, well executed
Phantasmagoria 2 is not for the faint hearted, not even today after so many years since it has been developed. It manages to pack in quite a good punch of pure horror, gore, and a few other scares that work their magic slower, that are built up if you pay attention to the story. What is even more interesting is the fact that the graphics, which are by no means the crispest out there, will make a great job at hiding certain elements, once again enriching and making the game even more frightening. The game shares a few themes with Sanitarium, especially the amnesiac in recovery theme, but the game is much more direct in its approach and much more intense when it comes to the horror bits. The sound too makes a good job at raising the hair on your back at times, and so, the entire list of elements will continue to grow on you and to draw you in even more. So, be advised, for a game this old, the scares it manages to pull are pretty real, and pretty in your face. Phantasmagoria 2 is not a tease, is a reaper in your face, ready to cut and maul!
