Putt-Putt saves the day!
The loveable car that is Putt-Putt has starred in a number of titles over the years, from Putt-Putt Goes to the Moon to Putt-Putt Enters the Race. Most of them are pretty decent edutainment games and this one maintains that general standard, making it a good choice for anyone looking for something to keep the kids quiet. This time around, Putt-Putt and his chum Pep the dog have to help out their friend Outback Al. He's lost six baby animals just before his new zoo opens, so it falls to our heroes to step in and save the day by finding them before it's too late. The duo will have to search a number of environments, from Arctic Land to Grasslands, in search of the poor lost critters. Along the way, they'll also need to seek out various tools with which to rescue the animals. The actual gameplay is similar to earlier instalments, and takes the form of a series of puzzles which are mostly environmental- and object-based, requiring you to explore the environments and make use of the appropriate objects in order to rescue the animals. This really is a cracking piece of kids entertainment. It's received a much appreciated visual makeover, with lush hand drawn characters and environments which are just bursting with colour and personality. The mix of puzzles and exploration makes for an entertaining experience, with the puzzles being just the right side of challenging but which are rarely less than fun to solve. You've also got a charming story and some wonderful sound to bring it all to life so overall this is a fine romp for younger gamers.
