Back in action
Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six series of tactical shooters displays the famous author's love of military detail and gripping storylines and makes for a fine set of games. Vegas 2 is another solid entry in the franchise so if you have any interest in shooters then this makes for a good choice. This one however is essentially the same as the first in the spinoff storyline of the original Vegas and also follows the storyline so if you haven't played that you might want to check it out first. This one is the flip side though and sees players in control of a second Rainbow Six unit that's in Las Vegas but this time around you're going to see the seedier side of the city as you explore it while taking out bad guys. In gameplay terms, this is a classic action shooter but with the addition of tactical elements as you're also in control of the various squad members and can issue orders to them to help you out. This one also features some quite deep customization options and a levelling up system which adds some nice variety and furthers the tactical concept. For the most part, this is a decent action experience. It is quite similar to the original game which can either be a good or a bad thing, depending on your point of view but there's no denying this offers lots of action and adventure, with some genuinely exciting set pieces. The visuals are excellent, with some very interesting environments to explore while the sound is equally intense. There's nothing overly original about the game but for a good old bit of shooting action, you can't go wrong here.
