The original Myst in a cursive graphical presentation
The main difference between this game and the original Myst stands in the way you move through the map. While the original was designed with set pieces, as a slide show, in this game you can move more unrestricted, as the game will render the environment as any usual first person game would. Now, for those that loved the immediacy of transportation possible in the first game, and didn't mind jumping from one slide to the other, this might not be as appealing, but most of us will appreciate the rendering work in this game. The puzzles however as exactly the same, so for someone that has already played Myst this will not bring in any extra content. However, the game features more glitter and spark in the form of animations and an extra of intermediary videos and better sound. So, overall, the portion of the game really feels a lot more organic, even if, the story and puzzles were and remain pretty unrelated, rather arbitrary. Another nice point of the game is that it has a few hidden Easter Eggs, for those that really love exploring and are thorough, but, again, don't expect these to impact the main story, because they do not.
