The Force is strong with this one
The original Knights of the Old Republic is one of the finest Star Wars games out there, ranking alongside Dark Forces and X-Wing, as well as being a first-rate RPG. This sequel is also top notch stuff and stands as a must-have for any real Star Wars fan. In many ways, this is similar to its predecessor, being an action RPG based around the 3rd edition Dungeons & Dragons ruleset any with many of the same features. The story is well told and revolves around the actions of a mysterious former Jedi who was exiled from the Order but who must now make some pretty serious choices about where their allegiances lie. The new elements that are featured here include things like a light saber crafting system, new Force powers, and the ability to influence the alignment of characters through a conversation-based system. The essential gameplay remains the same however, and is still heavily based around the idea that your actions affect how the story unfolds as well as other aspects, so you really need to think about where your allegiances lie. The Sith Lords might not deviate from the template laid down by its predecessor all that much but it remains a superb adventure. It really feels like a Star Wars game and really nails the atmosphere and look and feel of this much-loved universe. The gameplay is as compelling and exciting as ever, with much to do and see and which is always entertaining. There are enough new elements to make this feel like a sequel while the story is also interesting stuff, so really for any Star Wars fan, this is a no-brainer.
