Action and learning all in one
As you might expect from the title, this is a kids' edutainment title that aims to teach the little ones about spelling. However, in a slight departure from the norm in this kind of thing, this one is actually more of an action game than usual and plays out like a simple 3D flying/shooter title. Although not quite so well known as edutainment games like Super Solvers, it actually makes for both a decent game and for a good learning tool, so if you've got kids who need to brush up on their spelling and like to blow stuff up, this could be what you're looking for. Starting off, you get a few options to choose from like what kind of words you want to spell, the terrain to fly over, a helicopter and how difficult you want the game to be. Then you jump into the cockpit of your chosen vehicle and the action begins. Basically, you are given a sentence that has several missing letters in and it's your job to fly around the level in order to hunt them down. Making things more difficult are the gun turrets and enemy choppers flying around who want to blow you up but if you can grab all the letters and survive their attacks, you then have to make your way back to base and land. There's an extensive list of words included in the game, so would-be spellers should be hooked for some time, as the action is actually pretty entertaining. The visuals are simple enough, as you'd expect from the period but they do a good job, while the controls are easy to get the hang of. However, the amount of actions required for success make this a little bit tricky for novice gamers but if they have at least a bit of experience, they should find this fun. And hopefully, their spelling will get better!
