Guess who's back?
There's a surprising amount of games featuring Sven the sheep, and they're all quite charming little experiences, if a tad on the bonkers side. This one is the third entry in the franchise, and if you have any interest in oddball indie games, then this is well worth a closer inspection. This one actually ups the madness stakes considerably, and finds our sheep hero being abducted by aliens and then cloned, before being released back to Earth. Now that there are two Svens roaming around, the original is not the only sheep casanova in town, and thanks to this neat little story twist, we have an all new gameplay mechanic introduced: two player mode. The essential gameplay remains similar to previous entries, and the goal remains to please all the sheep in the area and make them explode with joy. Each sheep has a different mood, represented by a cloud over its head, and by finding items like roses and rockets, you can improve matters, but making things more difficult are obstacles like the shepherd and his dog. There really is nothing quite like a Sven game, and they get by on the sheer bonkersness of the concept. Fortunately, there's more to them than just this though, and there's a surprising amount of entertainment to be found here. There is of course a lot of schoolboy humor (we are talking about a game where you play a sheep who must pleasure other sheep), but the visuals and general sense of good naturedness prevent this from descending into the realm of truly poor taste. Definitely one to check out if you're into unusual games!
