Flight sim set in the Vietnam war, featuring the F105 models
Thud Ridge is a minimal flight game, pretty simplistic graphically and gameplay wise, but, nonetheless pretty ambitious in its scope, wishing no less than to simulate the aerial warfare that was waged during the war in Vietnam days. Therefore, if you love NES era type flight game graphics, that is, simple backgrounds, few onscreen colors and no such thing as a real physics engine but an actually well rounded game, that feels arcade but is pretty engaging, this is Thud Ridge. Yeah, it could well have been just a generic era specific fly sim, but instead it had enough elements going for itself that it is worth playing, which is why you should definitely give it a go. Of course, with the limitations that the engine imposed on the game, Thud Ridge could never really try and produce too diverse a roaster of missions, so expect mostly aerial combat, dodging of missiles and all that arcade style thing, truth be told, well produced, but interesting only for so long. For those that want a more fully fledged fly sim, better go for something like AV8B Harrier which ups the graphical ante and the mission roaster significantly.
