Medieval fantasy RPG; playable
Towers II: Plight of the Stargazer is pretty generic role player, in the same vein as a lot of the games of the era. In fact, it was a bit of a late comer to the party, having been released in 96. While many developers had moved further into the realm of full 3D and began to lighten up the atmosphere, this one is a pretty dark role player, not unlike role players done in the very early 90s. At any rate, you can play a fighter, or you can go the way of the magician, or even try a long ranged build. However, the trouble is that there are no elements that will draw you in, that will keep you playing for long hours. However, in a way, it's mighty generic nature can also be an underpinning that will see you liking it quite a bit, in the sense that you always know what to expect. At the very least the game is playable with no grand issues or problems to take you out of it. And so, with more or less alright graphics, well done controls, but generally arbitrary, not too original content, it's a game for those moments when you need to know what to expect at every step. Kind of like an Ultima game though a little too little and a little too late...
