Not an improvement over Spirit of Excalibur, bleak RPG...
Vengeance of Excalibur is an alright RPG at its best, pretty boring really, most of the time. Mostly because, since Spirit of Excalibur not too much was changed. Therefore, what you'll mostly feel is that the developers were just sick of it; all the elements are pretty soulless, from the story told, repetitive and unimpressive to the well, not that great graphics. Yeah, it's a game that was produced just so that the team would be done with it and then deploy it for the hardcore fans of the first game, if that one had such fans. Though, I'd think, most played the first because of the setting and the Excalibur tie in, rather than because of the game's actual quality or overall value. So, yeah, play it if you want to play a more concisely written game than the first one, but what made the first game a normative RPG is still there, even in larger doses. Yap, sorry, while I'm not trying to be one of those fringe critics that want to find fault in things whether there is or not fault, Vengeance of Excalibur is mostly boring, just an ordinary game where none of the developers felt inspired, unfortunately.
