Second in the Vietnam War themed shooter series
Vietcong 2 takes the series a step further in terms of graphics but otherwise it's same type of experience: you go from one level to the other without much to say in terms of the story told. The game is one of those scripted shooters that doesn't give you much room to wiggle around, but, in its defense, for what it's worth it is a very good game. In terms of diversity there will be quite a bit of that: both in terms of the locations in which you will be fighting but also in terms of the types of missions thrown at you, you'll be happy to learn that there are enough diverse options to keep you interested for hours. Plus, the scripting is not at all that bad, though at times you'll need to be located exactly where the game wants you, so as to trigger the next event. That is why, you'll constantly be playing a meta game of, hey do I need to wait here for cover while the enemies are coming towards me or do I need to progress even in spite of the firing and danger? So, in a way Vietcong 2 feels like the early Call of Duty games only it is more geared towards the events of the Vietnam War. But, overall, I found it rather enjoying playing. Plus there are missions in which you'll pilot tanks and other vehicles and that was also very enjoyable.
