Freeware release, made to hype Grand Inquisitor
This game is a pureblood text based adventure, released freeware style just before Zork: Grand Inquisitor came to be released, a game in the official Zork series that had long given up on pure text based recipes. Therefore, those that love a classic no thrills, no graphics approach to text adventure and specifically to the Zork series will feel most attached to this. Freeware as it was it still was pretty meaty a game, featuring a very verbose writing, lots of puzzles and just as intricate a world that required your upmost attention to navigate it correspondingly. Thus, Zork: The Undiscovered Underground will fell mostly like another version of Zork, the original. Sure enough, the game also has its own tongue in cheek humor and it sure knows how to make light of some of its older entrants. But, like I said, it is a serious game, one that can definitely stand its ground along the Zork elders, and not feel like a cheapo manufactured, sensationalist product. Really worth trying if pureblood text based of the Zork breed is what you are looking for!
