Go for it!
There are actually a number of games in the NHRA Drag Racing series, but unless you're a truly dedicated petrolhead who lives their life a quarter of a mile at a time, this isn't going to be of much interest to you. The gameplay is just too limited to be of interest to the general gamer and lacks the thrills and spills of more conventional racers like the Need For Speed series, making it a curiosity only. As you might expect from the title, this one focuses on the specialized art of drag racing and offers you the chance to go head to head with a number of drivers in some short-lived but furiously fast races. There are several options to choose from here, including standard cars, funny cars, and trucks, while there are twenty-five tracks to try out as well as extensive tuning options, and other elements like changing weather conditions to really keep you on your toes. The tuning system is particularly in-depth and offers lots of opportunities for the true petrolhead to play around with their car and get it running just how they like. If you're into drag racing, this is probably one of the best offerings on the market, although it does suffer nowadays from the lack of online multiplayer, as it's difficult to find anyone still playing. Going up against the computer lacks the thrill of a real player, but if you want to go drag racing, this is still a decent choice. The visuals are fine and the controls just on the right side of challenging, but for more general players, the appeal of such short races is going to be hard to see, making this one for fans only.
