Classic city building sim
SimCity 3000 is the third major game in the classic city-building SimCity franchise and this Unlimited version is more of a revision to the original than anything else. Several new features are introduced here which make this an interesting addition to the series, and which is best suited to those who haven't played the game before, as the new features don't add a great deal for veterans. As ever, the goal is to construct and manage your city, with myriad details to worry about, including natural disasters, waste management, business deals and land values. Although the level of complexity on display here is pretty high, the interface remains slick and intuitive, making it easy to make decisions and access the various options. Graphically too, the game retains the simple, uncomplicated feel of its predecessors but is still visually appealing. The new features here are mainly cosmetic, with new terrain, landmarks and disasters, as well as several pre-made real world cities. Perhaps the biggest addition are the thirteen scenarios, which are basically missions with specific objectives that must be completed within a time limit. If you're into city building and management, this is an excellent game and it is undeniably satisfying watching your creations expand and develop. It's accessible and enjoyable enough for newcomers, but if you have played the standard version of SimCity 3000, then this isn't a vital experience as the new features are largely superficial.
