Fantasy text based adventure continuing the Zork saga
Some people have an aversion towards text adventures, thinking that they can't really offer you much enjoyment or that feel of being there, as actual graphical adventures can. But, for those that have a bit of imagination and also have learned to use graph paper or some other means to keep up with the game's lack of visuals, Beyond Zork - The Coconut of Quendor could easily be considered a masterpiece. That is because it is just as imaginative as any other adventure game. The fantasy setting is no lesser than the one in the Longest Journey series but, without question it has its own feel. Besides, those that want action and puzzles won't be disappointed either. The game sees you make it through the world and being tested at every step. Thus, using your and your character's wits will furthermore enhance the feeling that you are on an adventure that will not only test you, but one that will see you develop. The game in this respect almost feels like a comparison, like a commentary on adventure games. However, the tone can also vary from very serious to very playful, so you will always feel as if you are navigating a real, living world. So, whether you are a text based adventure fanatic or not, this Zork game can be pitted in your must play list easily.
