Dino-roar!
If classic city building simulator SimCity is a bit too tame for you, and you have a love of dinosaurs (and let's face it, who doesn't?), then you might be tempted to check out this similar title. However, it's not actually very good, despite the presence of dinosaurs, so it's likely to appeal only to the most diehard of dino or city building fans. In essence, this one is quite similar to others of the genre, and offers you the chance to manage your own dinosaur-themed park. As manager, you're in charge of pretty much everything, from choosing the locations of the pens, to selecting and breeding dinosaurs, to setting admission fees and making sure everyone knows about your park by advertising it. Of course, all this has to be done profitably, so you need to keep an eye on the books, but if you need a break from all that serious thinking, you can actually take a pleasant stroll around your own creation and see the wonder of all that you have made. In theory, this should have been a fun addition to a crowded genre. And indeed, for a short while, it's quite a pleasant experience, as there's no denying that pretty much anything with dinosaurs is cool. However, once that initial appeal has worn off, you realize that this is quite a shallow title, with little in the way of the depth which makes other examples so entertaining. The interface is certainly easy to work with, while the visuals are attractive, if not overly encumbered with detail, but at the end of the day, there's just not enough here to keep you going.
