Quick time events based adventure
Just like the Laserdisc original, Dragon's Lair 3 is the same kind of game, it asks of you to be very careful at the action on screen and at the right moment press a determined number of buttons to keep the story going. The action on screen can be very diverse, with your protagonist always looking to dodge, fight, move, etc from a variety of situations. However, you're more of a button masher, and don't really have much of a say in how the story goes. Unlike the Dragon's Lair NES version of the game, this one is not a platformer, it's the same mash up of story driven cartoon shenanigans but, unfortunately, the beautiful style of the original is replaced by a more budget look and feel. The animation is much shoddier, with a lesser palette of colors, with much fewer interesting background elements and also, with music and sounds that are again, immediately recognizable as cheesy, cheap. So, I can only find it in me to recommend this game to hardcore Laserdisc adventure aficionados that simply can bear the lesser quality of this third title in the series. For most of us however, this is a totally forgettable title.
