Highway to the danger zone
If you're a fan of the flight simulator Falcon 3.0 and fancy seeing what it looks like from the other side of the Iron Curtain, then this is the perfect little treat for you. It's an expansion pack for the aforementioned classic which lets you jump into the cockpit of the titular legendary fighter plane and which adds a bunch of new missions to make a first class flying combat experience. As it's built on the same engine as Falcon, you should have a pretty good idea of what to expect here but if you don't you should know that this series is one which is known for its realism, depth and detail. Therefore, if you are a newcomer to flight sims in general, this might prove a bit daunting. That doesn't mean you shouldn't have a look though, as this really is one of the finest such games around. The depth is apparent right from the outset, with a wealth of options to choose from and which can easily be tailored for beginners to ease them in. The missions themselves are nicely varied and contain a lot of interesting background info, which really helps to immerse the player in the game. Once you've picked your mission and armanents, set your waypoints and picked your wingmen, it's time to hit the skies and this is where the fun really starts. The action, once you get into it, is fast and furious with a real Top Gun feel to it and it's difficult not to start humming Danger Zone (or whatever the Russian equivalent is) to yourself as you let loose a few missiles. Really, if you're into flight sims such as F-15 Strike Eagle III and have completed Falcon 3.0 then you owe it to yourself to pick up this fantastic add-on.
