Nancy does it again!
This is the eighth game in the hugely popular and successful line of Nancy Drew mysteries and like pretty much all the other offerings in the series, this is a fine piece of spooky fun. It's obviously aimed at junior adventure fans so if you're looking to start a younger gamer on the path to Myst, this is a good place to start. This one offers a classic Nancy set-up and finds her investigating a mystery at Captain's Cove Amusement Park. It all starts out innocently enough, with an accident on one of the rides attracting Nancy's attention but it all gets a bit spookier when the rides start running by themselves in the middle of the night. As is usual for the series, this is traditional point-and-click adventure stuff, so you can expect to explore the various parts of the amusement park while talking to the colorful characters who lurk in the shadows and picking up clues to help solve the mystery. There's plenty of puzzles to keep you challenged as well, as well as the usual features like multiple difficulty levels and so on. This is perhaps one of the best games in the Nancy Drew series and if you've never played one before, it's a great place to start. The production values are as high as ever, with visuals that are just dripping in atmosphere and which suck you in to the spooky fun. The story is well written and compelling, with plenty of interesting characters and lots of twists and turns. The puzzles are the right side of difficult, being challenging but satisfying to solve and overall, this makes for some excellent detective fun.
