Shoot them asteroids!
Super Stardust is a 1994 Shoot em up game released for Amiga and DOS and it was ranked the 26th best Amiga game of all time by magazine Amiga Power. This game is a sequel to Stardust, which was released in 1993. The game is basically a copy of the old legend Asteroids, only it has some enhancements such as power ups or shields. The gameplay is very simple. You control and space craft that moves around in space and that aircrafts has to destroy various obstacles that are coming in his way, such as asteroids and other space crafts. You have upgradeable weapons and can pick up powerups and other enhancements on the way. After you die, your score is written on a leader board. You can choose to play in Arcade mode, where you go from planet to planet and blow up asteroids, or you can choose Planet mode, where you can choose your planet and finish the game when you finish everything with that planet. Each game mode has its own online leader board. You can choose to play alone or in multiplayer. Since we're talking about 1996, the graphics are fantastic for its time, very dynamic and great to look at. The soundtrack is also very good, a tune that is blended in with the game perfectly. It's no matter that the game looks like a copy of Asteroids, it's designed and executed so well that we don't care who made it or borrowed the idea from whom, as long as it's there.
