Highly stylized racer, a bit on the psychedelic side
Tunnels of Armageddon slaps you in a futuristic vehicle, maybe some sort of hovercraft, maybe some dram machine, at any rate, however you want to take it. It makes little difference when you consider that the game's environments are tunnels made of front facing elements. At times you are confronted with obstacles that generally are of a different color than the rest of the tunnel portions. At other times, you have to make choices on whether you choose to go left or right, or, later on, have to choose your direction for some other reasons. The truth is, however, that this game doesn't want to challenge you as much as it wants to transport you in a Zen like state. Yap, this late 80s title is a bit of an experimental title that tries to tinker with your mental states and all that new age Jazz! Anyway, I found my 10 or so minutes stint with the game quite joyful and mind clearing. So, for this reason alone, and for the novelty of it all it is worth playing. Rez is another game that tries its hand at psychedelia, but that one is much more colorful. This is your late 80s psychedelic trip through racing gameplay! Try Skyroads for a less disturbing but still space age styled racing game.
