As DOS like as any shareware sidescroller has ever been!
Vigilance on Talos V is such a specific iteration on what the sidescroller game was, in the shareware era on the DOS platform that one has but to wonder why it wasn't more prominently featured and we haven't heard of it more. But, nonetheless, that is for no fault of its own. As Vigilance on Talos V is a very satisfying game to play, it has really nice 8bit DOS looking graphics, the animation are not very original nor do they come with too much detail, but they do their job as good as you'd ever want them to. And, on top of that, the game is very diverse and features such an amazing number of additional puzzles, (the environmental type) cool enemies, even if not in very large numbers, and also, quite a well balanced difficulty curve. So, along with the seminal shareware Xargon I have no other thing to say to you, than to download them both. They're both great representatives of a very satisfying yet underappreciated niche of sidescroller games. And if you don't like them, then, well, I guess the beauty of the proto internet has not meant a lot to you!
