Nancy Drew is back!
The legendary young detective Nancy Drew has starred in a whole heap of adventures over the years, from the early days of Secrets Can Kill to later efforts such as Shadow at the Water's Edge. This one comes somewhere around the middle of the franchise and provides plenty of entertainment and challenging sleuthing for amateur detectives. The story here revolves around mysterious goings on at a 14th century mansion in England, where the newest member of the family has locked herself in her room, raving of hauntings, curses, spooks and other such bizarre matters. Nancy Drew gets the call to go and investigate and so players get the chance to explore the creepy old mansion, soaking up the atmosphere and trying to get to the bottom of things. In similar fashion to Myst and other such adventures, you roam around various handsome environments, speaking with members of the family, picking up items and trying to solve the numerous puzzles which hide the mansion's secrets. If you have played any of the earlier games in the series, then this will be right up your street. It continues in the same high standard as its predecessors, with some nicely detailed visuals, plenty of interesting puzzles and a gripping storyline. However, this is one is a lot harder than other games in the series, so if you're just starting out, you might want to try an earlier one, while even series veterans will find some of the puzzles here a challenge. The high difficulty level aside though, this is a fine adventure.
