Star Wars: X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter
I have you now!
Although this superb Star Wars flight combat sim was primarily designed for multi-player action, it also includes a cracking single-player campaign which makes it well worth picking up for fans of X-Wing or other non-Star Wars shooters like Freespace. The multi-player portion pits between two and eight pilots against one another in some seriously intense space dogfighting action, with choices of some of the coolest spaceship designs ever, from either the Rebel Alliance or the Galactic Empire. If you can't find other players to take on though, you also have over fifty combat missions to try (which can also be played with friends), and a choice of nice starfighters and a pretty epic storyline to play through, and which is perhaps the best of all the extensive series of Star Wars flight sims. Even better, you can play through the story from both sides of the fight and which gives the game even more appeal. If you are a veteran of Star Wars flight games, then this one is pretty much a no-brainer and should also be part of your collection. As usual, it gets the atmosphere bang on, and makes you feel like you're really part of whichever force you choose to side with. The ships all feel and sound just as you want them to, and handle in subtly different ways so there's a lot of fun to be had just finding your favorites. The visuals are perhaps a little dated, as is the sound, but everything still looks pretty good, while the gameplay remains as rock solid as ever. Put simply, this is one of the best Star Wars games out there.
The odd one out in the X Wing series
This game, Star Wars: X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter was not a regular entrant in the X Wing series, nope, it was a more original experience than the other ones besides being more technically advanced than these. One thing you'll need to be able to play it (this can't be helped, the game won't accept keyboard controls no matter what, unless, of course, you mod or hack it!) is a joystick and from there on it's pure space action joy. If other titles in the series were also interested to tell a story or to add new gameplay elements, in Star Wars: X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter you will mostly be flying and fighting, all of it, mission based and all of it pretty similar in style. That is so because Star Wars: X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter was actually mostly built to support larger scale multiplayer, and in 97 that meant 8 concomitant players. I can't really say if there are any servers to play through today, but, surely, they could be emulated, so if you manage to source one, go right in, this oldie sure can pack a hefty dogfighting punch.
Classic game with a lot of fun
If you have played Star Wars: X-Wing then you will love this game. When Star Wars: X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter was released I was young. I remember it was one of the most entertaining and popular game in that time. Still now sometimes I play this game for entertainment. This game is full of pure fun. It was released in 1997 by Lucas Arts. It can be run in almost all the Windows operating system. It has good sound and graphics quality. This is great simulation game with a lot of options and custom stage. This simulation game has multiplayer options for up to eight players. The combat graphics of this game is great. It may not have great graphics but still it is an addictive game. There may be some bugs in this version. This game is entirely enjoyable with multiplayer. So you can enjoy this game with your friends and family members. You can play this game hour after hours. It is a 4 out of 5 rating game. Classic game but still this game didn't lose its appeal. Try Star Wars: X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter, you will like it.
